Vielles Vignes Ventoux

Nesting in the foothills of the Mont Ventoux – The Giant of Provence – are the well-known Côtes du Ventoux vineyards. This big, fruity wine, an exceptional example of the appellation, is the result of a happy combination of Grenache and Syrah. This one is all about easy drinking. Earthy, cherries and an edge of spice. Well balanced with good fruit and acidity, this is a wine that goes well with most meals. This is an incredible value. Jeb Dunnuck of The Wine Advocate said this about this wine: “A delicious effort that sells for a song and is perfect for mid-week drinking, the 2012 Ventoux Vieilles Vignes (70% Grenache, 30% Syrah) dishes up pretty, perfumed aromas and darker berry fruit, smoked herbs, spice, pepper and hints of background meatiness to go with a medium-bodied, juicy and texture feel on the palate. You could certainly do much worse for 13 bucks and this solid, character filled effort should be consumed over the coming 3-5 years.”
