Jacques Lemenicier

This Cornas is peppery and redolent with violets, cassis, blackberries, raspberries, cocoa and licorice now. Will age gracefully easily for 2 decades. As it ages, this wine will take on truffles, dust and leather. Sourced from old vines on steep slopes along the Rhone, Jacques Lemenicier’s production is small and limited. According to Josh Raynolds of Vinous “Bright purple. A wild, highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh black and blue fruits, smoked meat, olive paste and violet. The sappy, gently sweet dark berry flavors, underscored by juicy acidity, show very good energy and back-end lift. Closes smoky, sweet and quite long, displaying lingering florality and supple tannins that sneak in slowly.”
