This Cornas is peppery and redolent with violets, cassis, blackberries, raspberries, cocoa and licorice now. Will age gracefully easily for 2 decades. As it ages, this wine will take on truffles, dust and leather. Sourced from old vines on steep slopes along the Rhone, Jacques Lemenicier’s production is small and limited. According to Josh Raynolds of Vinous “Bright purple. Deeply pitched black and blue fruit aromas are complicated by notes of woodsmoke and olive. Round and gently sweet on the palate, offering ripe blackberry and boysenberry flavors and a touch of candied violet. On the supple side for the vintage, finishing with very good punch, easygoing tannins and an echo of dark berries.”
